CATHOLIC CHARITY FOOD PANTRY OFFICES

Catholic Charities of Brooklyn & Queens (CCBQ), a Non-profit Organization that provides much needed social services to the community, turned to Tobin Parnes Design for the renovation of an existing Food Pantry Office located in Brooklyn, NY. This project is situated at the edge of Brooklyn Heights and Downtown Brooklyn - a family-friendly community, characterized by elegant brownstone row houses and historically detailed residential apartments. The space is located on the ground floor of a beautiful historic building, accentuated by neo-gothic details and arches.

TPD understands that the main mission of CCBQ is to support the most vulnerable members of our society; therefore, one of our priorities was to introduce finishes that invoke a timeless aesthetics appropriate to the use, population and maintenance requirements. The scope of work included a full gut rehabilitation of the existing ground floor offices to create a new Reception, Waiting Room, Conference Room, Food Pantry Areas, Staff Offices, Staff Pantry and general service spaces.

The design’s focal point falls in the open Reception Area accentuated by a large-scaled floral patterned mural, allowing for a creative and attractive contrast against the neutral color palette throughout the space. Warm wood tones were incorporated in the millwork throughout, reinforcing a welcoming environment for all visitors.  The design is a modest expression of CCBQ’s commitment to their overall mission of creating inclusive environments that allow their visitors to obtain the services they most need, as well as feel safe, welcomed and valued.
