West Flooring & Design approached TPD Architecture with the desire to create a modern gallery-like space to showcase their wood samples as if they were precious jewelry. The owners have a background in art and wood working, so they wanted a design that was unique and different. Each retail display was custom-designed to put the different size samples into the spotlight. Our design intent was to foster the connection with nature and pay tribute to the origins of the wood by integrating a large mural of a pine forest and a laser-cut metal screen with a tree pattern. Medium size samples are displayed on museum like pedestals.
